Please spread the word. This district is at a breaking point.

Some places don’t just shape you; they live in you. In the worn soles of your boots, the quiet ache behind your eyes, the hush that settles between sirens at night. For me, that place is St. John’s Centre. It’s stitched into my story, rooted in every step I take. And that’s why today, I’m excited to finally announce that I’m seeking the Liberal nomination.

On Franklyn Avenue, my mother taught me that survival is a kind of prayer. That community is found in the steam rising from a neighbour’s kitchen window, it’s a pot of stew passed through a fence, a door held open on a freezing day, a knock at midnight that says: I’m here.

That ritual of showing up has shaped everything I do. I’ve founded organizations for the forgotten. Walked across this island with blisters on my feet and purpose in my chest. Because when something needs doing, I don’t ask who is going to do it — I go

I’ve carried our stories across oceans and into marble hallways, because silence is dangerous and someone had to speak. I’ve helped rewrite laws and delivered meals when the streets were shut down. I didn’t wait for a campaign to act. I didn’t need permission to care.

Some will come now, with polished slogans and parachuted promises. But I’ve been here. Through blackouts and break-ins, through pandemics and vigils. This district doesn’t need another voice shouting from afar.

What I offer is lived memory that spans decades. It’s trust earned the hard way, built from the ground up. Pain doesn’t scare me, and neither does power because I’ve been shut out of both. And I kicked the door in, so the next person wouldn’t have to.

This isn’t a campaign. It’s a continuation of work that started long before my name ever appeared on a ballot. It’s about a kind of leadership that doesn’t flinch at hard truths. One that’s willing to get its hands dirty and if necessary, its heart broken. Because politics should be about people, not power.

So, ask yourself: when it gets harder — and it will — who do you want in your corner?

I have respect for anyone who steps into public life. But let’s be honest, there’s a difference between making noise and making change. Between showing up when it’s convenient and standing your ground when it’s hard. Opposition for its own sake doesn’t keep our neighbourhoods safe, it won’t ease our worries at night, and it sure won’t put food on our table.

This moment calls for vision, not volume. For purpose, not performance. I’m not here to audition. I’ve been here all along. This is home — yours and mine. That’s why I’m running, and why your support means everything. My first title is neighbour, but as your MHA, I have the know-how to get government working for you. Send me a DM to join the movement. Let’s go!!! #TeamHogan
